My Story

July 2019 marks the 5 year anniversary of Oa's primary breast cancer diagnosis, so what better way to celebrate being cancer free than jumping out of a plane! For some reason, Kay is doing it with her...

In 2014, at the age of 28, Oa was diagnosed with primary breast cancer. What followed was a whirlwind of emotions and medical appointments before she began her chemotherapy treatment. It was a scary time, with lots of uncertainty and an overwhelming sense of the unknown.

Leading up to and during her treatment, Oa was fortunate to have a support network of friends and family to help her along the way – lifting those down days with a few little treats to relieve some of the side effects she experienced. The impact these small tokens had on Oa’s wellbeing was huge, and so the concept of ‘littlelifts’ was born.

We aim to provide practical and emotional support to women who face chemotherapy treatment for primary breast cancer, giving them a carefully created Comfort Box. At the moment, our support focuses on women in Norfolk and Suffolk but in the future our mission is to reach as many women as possible in East Anglia.

Every year approximately 50,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK.* We’re on a mission to support them by offering a littlelifts’ Comfort Box at the beginning of their chemotherapy treatment. We do this by working directly with hospitals in Norfolk and Suffolk, where Boxes are given out to patients during chemotherapy planning or review meetings with their Oncology Team or Breast Care Team. (*Statistics taken from www.breastcancernow.org)

Kay and Oa make up the tiny but mighty littlelifts workforce and, along with our incredible trustees, we are really passionate about helping women through their chemotherapy treatment. £40 is enough to buy the contents for one littlelifts Comfort Box, so if the target is raised that is an incredible amount of women who will be supported through their treatment.

There are plenty of spaces available on the skydive, so if you'd like to join us just get in touch at [email protected]. The more the merrier!

Love, Kay and Oa xx
