My Story

UPCOMING MARCH 2023 - " Dubai Cycle Event" ,Sit in a streamer goes to Dubai .....

On 18th March 2023, one of our sit in a streamers “John “ will be taking on the coast to coast challenge. It’s 240km across Dubai and hoping to raise some more funds for Little Lifts 🚴‍♂️

We know times are a bit tough for most at the moment but as you know from our posts this is brilliant charity who help support people with breast cancer so any donations really do help 🤗

COMPLETED - JUNE 2022

The idea for this challenge first came about after some of us took part in an organised wild swim in Cambridge. After this we were hooked on wild swimming in our local rivers and fords. During car journeys we often would pass local rivers and wonder what they would be like to swim in. Suddenly an idea for a charity fundraiser was born!

We thought that it would be a fun challenge to sit in all the streams and rivers across our fantastic county, Norfolk, over a weekend.

The challenge has grown, from swimming in the major, more well-known rivers such as the Wensum and the Yare, to include all those listed by Wikipedia and the Norfolk Rivers Trust (and a few we have found along the way!). The list currently stands at 54 rivers, streams or becks (it keeps growing!)

To make the challenge even more, well challenging, we will be cycling, running and walking around 300 miles over 4 days between the location. We are hoping to get as many different groups (wild swimmers, running clubs or walkers) involved as possible to join all or parts of the challenge. By doing this, we hope to raise awareness of breast cancer and raise as much money as possible for the little lifts charity which we have chosen to donate raised funds to as this is a cause close to us as a friendship groups heart.

Every year approximately 55,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK, making it the most common cancer. There are 36,000 women living with secondary (incurable) breast cancer. Approximately 350 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every

This awesome local charity supports women and men who are beginning chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment by offering a Little Lifts box. They work directly with hospitals in East Anglia, where boxes are given out to patients during treatment planning or review meetings with their Oncology, Radiotherapy, or Breast Care Teams.
