About us
We believe small gestures can make a big difference to the lives of people facing chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment for breast cancer.
Every year approximately 55,000 women and 350 men are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK, making it the most common cancer*. We’re on a mission to support them by offering a Little Lifts Box at the beginning of their chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment. We do this by working directly with hospitals in East Anglia, where Boxes are given out to patients during treatment planning or review meetings with their Oncology, Radiotherapy or Breast Care Teams.
Since the beginning of the pandemic we have received a surge in requests from breast cancer patients outside Norfolk and Suffolk enquiring how they can receive a Little Lifts Box. Thanks to generous support from Spacemasks we are delighted to launch The Little Kindness Fund.
The Little Kindness Fund is a discretionary fund for women and men undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment for primary or secondary breast cancer, living in England and Wales. The fund enables eligible applicants to receive a Little Lifts Box, free of charge, to support their emotional wellbeing and support them through their cancer treatment. Why Little Lifts?
In 2014 at the age of 28, founder of the charity Oa was diagnosed with primary breast cancer. What followed was a whirlwind of emotions and medical appointments before she began her chemotherapy treatment. It was a scary time.
Lifting those down days
Leading up to and during her treatment, Oa was fortunate to have a support network of friends and family to help her along the way - lifting those down days with a few little treats to relieve some of the side effects she experienced.
The impact these small tokens had on Oa’s wellbeing was huge, and so the concept of ‘Little Lifts’ was born.
